What is Tencel Modal?
Tencel® Modal is a bio-based material which comes from beech trees sustainably harvested by Lenzing. Lenzing ensures its trees do not come from ancient and endangered forests, and manufactures their fibers in a closed-loop production process where any chemicals are recovered or transformed. Tencel® Modal is a biodegradable material.
Do you use synthetic fabrics?
No. We believe that what we put on our bodies matters, and we wouldn’t want to be sleeping in plastic. While there are some semi eco-friendly synthetic options out there like recycled polyester, this is not something we would want to sleep in as it is not breathable or moisture absorbent, and does not take natural dye as well as natural or bio-based fibers.
Are your products vegan?
Yes, all Half Asleep products are vegan and cruelty free.
How do you minimize waste?
We use leftover materials whenever possible to avoid waste. Our Scrunchies, for example, are made with fabric offcuts from the production of our Classics Collection.
What packaging do you use to ship your orders?
All of our hangtags, business cards, and thank you notes are made using cotton paper, which is made with cotton fabric scraps from the garment industry. Our packaging is either compostable, biodegradable, and/or recycled.
Do you use virgin plastic?
No, our orders are shipped plastic-free using a box made of a combination of recycled paper and FSC certified paper to ensure strength and durability. They are recyclable and biodegradable. The garment or accessories you ordered will be inside of transparent bags made of recycled plastic.
What size am I?
We recommend you stick to your normal size, but first double check on our fit guide to see if it matches up. Our sleepwear runs a little big to allow for comfort, so you shouldn't have to size up. If you are in between sizes, or are having difficulty figuring out what size to order, please contact us and we will be happy to help!
Sets: Can I buy pieces of a set separately?
We currently only sell sets together. Since our fabric is naturally dyed, every roll of fabric could be a different shade. We cut sets together so that the color will match, and because of this, we must sell them together as well.
Sets: What if I am a different size for tops and bottoms?
We took this in mind when designing and fitting our prototypes, and this generally should not be an issue with our sleepwear. In most cases, we recommend sticking to your smaller size. Please refer to the fit chart on the product description page, and contact us if you need further assistance.
Sets: Do you make exceptions?
We recommend you first try ordering a set. If that still doesn’t work out, please reach out to us to see what we can do. Sometimes we receive a couple of extra tops or bottoms and we can make a mixed set for you; however, if we do not have extras, we cannot break up an existing set.
Do you have plus sizes?
Not yet, but we are working on it! Our plan was to launch plus sizes in 2020, but due to Covid-19 and the closing of the factories we work with, this has been very delayed. Subscribe to our mailing list and follow us on Instagram to be notified as soon as we launch more sizes.
Can I try on your sleepwear anywhere?
We sell our sleepwear at Pivot Market, a sustainable brands market inside of The Citadel in Miami, FL. You can try on our sleepwear and feel the softness of our fabric if you are in the area.
How should I wash my Half Asleep sleepwear?
You can hand or machine wash your sleepwear; however, we recommend hand washing. It is better for the environment and leaves your sleepwear looking nicer when it dries.
Tip: think before you wash! We sometimes overwash our clothes when it isn’t even dirty. Throwing our PJs on the dirty laundry pile may sound tempting, but we recommend you wash only when necessary. It is not only better for the life cycle of your garment, but for the environment as well!

How should I dry my Half Asleep sleepwear?
Preferably not. We recommend you dry your sleepwear by laying it flat to dry on a dry white towel. Make sure to dry in the shade as some colors may fade with long exposure to the sun.
What is the best way to care for my Half Asleep pajamas?
Don't stuff them in a drawer! For best results between wear, we recommend hanging your pajamas. You may have never done that before, but why not treat the clothes we wear almost every day with love? Alternatively, you can neatly fold it in a drawer.
How much do you charge for shipping?
Nothing! We offer free standard shipping on all US orders. For expedited shipping, please check the options at checkout as they vary per location.
We also offer free shipping for returns.
How long does your standard shipping option take?
Our free shipping option should arrive to you in 1-4 business days after it has been shipped, depending on your shipping destination. Orders placed before 2 pm EST typically ship the same day.
Do you ship outside of the US?
Yes - please refer to our International Shipping tab on this FAQ page for important notes about international shipping charges.
Can I return or exchange my item(s)?
Yes! We want your new sleepwear to be everything you dream it to If you are not satisfied with your order, or would like to exchange it for another size/color/style, please read our Return Policy and the instructions below.
Return Policy:
To be eligible for a return, your item must not be worn, washed, or altered, and must be in the same condition that you received it. It must also have all tags attached and be in its original packaging. All returns must be sent back within 30 days of receiving your order.
To complete your return, we require an order number or proof of purchase.
Please do not send your purchase back without meeting the above requirements as returns will not be processed.

Email orders@halfasleep.co Make sure to include your order # in the subject line (ie: "Return Order #1234" or "Exchange Order #1234"), and your full name and reason for return in the body of the email.
For exchanges: please also indicate which item(s) you would like to exchange
If your order qualifies for a return/exchange, we will send you a return label. Print your return label and send your order back to us in its original packaging.
Returns: When will I receive my refund?
Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. We will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund.
If you are approved, then your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your credit card or original method of payment.
Expedited shipping charges cannot be refunded.
Exchanges: When will I receive my new item?
Once your return is received and inspected, we will send out your new item and provide you with your new tracking number via email
How much is return shipping?
Free shipping is provided on all acceptable returns within 10 days of receiving your order upon completion of a two minute anonymous survey.
If you do not wish to complete the survey, or if you send your order within 11-30 days of receiving your order, the return shipping will be deducted from your refund.
Shipping Costs:
International shipping rates will be calculated at checkout based on the destination and shipping method chosen. Please note that we do not offer free international shipping at this time.
Delivery Time:
Delivery times vary depending on your location and the shipping method selected. You can see the options available for your location at check-out.
Customs, Duties & Taxes:
Import duties, taxes, and customs fees are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility and are determined by your local customs office. Please check with your local customs office for more information on potential charges.
Package Delays:
While we do our best to ensure timely delivery, we are not responsible for delays caused by customs processing or other international shipping issues beyond our control.
Lost or Damaged Packages:
We are not liable for packages lost or damaged during international transit. In such cases, we recommend contacting the shipping carrier directly for assistance.
Important Notes:
Undeliverable Packages:
If a package is returned to us due to an incorrect address, refusal to pay customs fees, or failure to pick up the package from customs, the customer will be responsible for the cost of reshipping the package. Alternatively, the order can be refunded minus the original shipping cost and any fees incurred during the return process.
