Where did you get ready and why did you choose that location?
I chose to get ready in our home. We were lucky enough to find and purchase our dream house during the pandemic. I wanted to make sure that my bridesmaids and I had enough space and felt comfortable while getting ready. It was also super special to me to get photographed there.
What did you and your bridesmaids wear to get ready for your big day?
We got ready in Half Asleep's Ruffle Robe. I knew I wanted to give my bridesmaids something they could remember this day by and use regularly. Naturally, matching robes was the way to go! I knew right away that I would get them from Half Asleep. I have one of their PJ sets and I’m obsessed with it! I knew these would be beautiful, high quality, and photograph well.
How did you feel in the moments leading up to the wedding?
I was SO ready! The car ride to the wedding venue was about 20 min. Those were the longest 20 minutes of my life! I think my biggest fear was seeing the place and making sure that my vision had come to life. Overall, I was a huge ball of feelings: nerves, excitement, even sadness because I felt everything was happening so fast!
You got married in Miami. Tell us more about your wedding location and why you chose it.
I got married in Sunset Cove in Key Biscayne. I had one of those long Covid engagements that lasted two years. Thankfully, one of the first things I chose in 2019 and locked down was the venue. In Miami you truly have endless possibilities. But, my priorities were no ballrooms and flexibility with time and vendors. That helped me focus on places that met my criteria. Sunset Cove was a great space because it was pretty much a blank canvas. While this might sound daunting to some people, I enjoyed building every single detail from the ground up.
How did you meet your husband and when did you know he was the one?
We met back in college, Babson College. We were just friends there. We both ended up in New York for work. After almost five years of living in New York, we ran into each at our sibling’s graduation in Boston. I saw he had posted a story and I spontaneously messaged him saying I was on my way there for my brother’s graduation too. Long story short we met up that night, he told me he had gotten a job in San Francisco and that he would convince me to come with him. Four months later I moved across the country. I definitely knew then he was the one.
What was the highlight of your wedding day?
Definitely the energy and love I felt from everyone around us! People came from around the world to be with us and that meant everything to me. Plus, I got to marry my best friend!
Looking back, what advice would you give future brides?
Enjoy every single second of it! Don’t stress too much the days prior. At that point what’s done is done. You’ll never live this moment again so try to take a step back and soak it all in. Not just during the party, even when you wake up and start getting ready with your bridesmaids, every moment is so special!
